The Rules
This year's event will be a series of small games. Points will be awarded for each game. For large games, 1st place will get 10 points, 2nd will get 9 points down to 1 point for 10th place. Smaller events wil get 5 points for 1st place, 4 points for 2nd place... you get the idea. And then there's Foot Down, which has crrrraaaazy scoring! Actually it's not that crazy, just 10 points for 1st place, 9 for 2nd down to 5 points for 5th.
There's also a few chances to earn bonus points
And now... more details
Two Headed Giant Race to bike ride (10-1 points)
The race will begin at flagstaff hill with the twoheaded giant event. As each team registers they will nominate one of their players to run the race. Each player will be teamed up at random with someone from another team, one of their legs will be tied to the other's. The teams will line their bikes up on the ground, a Le Mans Start, the other players will stand in front of all the bikes. The two headed giants will start to run and must tag in their other teammates before untying their legs and grabbing their bikes!
Teams will ride from Flagstaff Hill to West Park on the Northside. There will be three chackpoints to hit on the way, one will hold supplies you'll need later, one will be a test of your pirate knowledge, and one will be a chance at bonus points! Your team can decide to ride to all of the points together, or split up and meet up at the end. Either way, the time your last teammate enters West Park will be the time for your team. The next events and the picnic will take place in the portion of West Park between Brighton Rd., Ridge Ave., and W. Ohio St.
Pirate Steeplechase (10-1 points)
The steeplechase is one of "tougher" events because of not only the distance but also the hurdles. The course will be run 4 times, your team can choose to have only one team member run the race, or can do it as a relay using multiple players. The course will be run by all teams at the same time, the best time will win.
Based on the real olympic Steeplechase
Modern Pirate Bike Pentathlon
Never heard of the modern pentathlon? Read up! Our version is a little different...
Hook-hand water balloon toss (5-1 points)
2 players from each team, one wearing an "eye-patch" and one wearing a hook hand will pair up. Each pair stands face to face with one holding a water balloon. They toss it to each other and then take one step back. Each time it is tossed they take one step back. The pair that has their water balloon intact the longest wins.
Water Balloon Shot Put (5-1 points)
The shot put is a throwing event included in the field athletics events. In place of a heavy metal, which is known as the "shot", we will be using water balloons. The event involves the action of throwing the ball at a distance. The balloon which has burst at the farthest point, will win.
Peg Leg Races (5-1 points)
One member of each team will take on this challenge! A race to the end Y'ar! Each player will don their "peg leg" and "run" to the finish line.
Peg Leg Bike Races (5-1 points)
How does a peg-leg pirate ride a bike? With one foot. Give it a shot, it's really not that hard.
Pirate Sledge Pull (5-1 points)
Teams will choose one person to ride on the "sledge" and will pull that person a certain distance. The team that pulls their teammate over the line first, with all limbs on the sledge will win.
Foot Down (10-5 points)
In this event, any number of your team members may participate. Everyone will jump on their bikes and begin to ride in a circle. As the circle gets smaller, those who put their foot down will have to jump out. The last one left wins! Hands must stay on handlebars the whole time. This is the only event where several members of your team can score points at the same time!
Bike Biathlon (10-1 points)
In this event, one team member will do two loops around the park, at each end of the park there will be a target to hit with a waterballoon. You will have one chance to hit the target each time you pass, if you miss you must do a small penalty lap into the park. The best time wins.
Based on the most awesome winter sport: the biathlon
STYLES! (5)
If you've got mad pirate styles you can get 5 bonus points. That's like a large game 5th place finish! Or a small game 1st place finish! Or a large game 6th place finish and a small game 5th place finish! Or several other combinations which I will not list here.
